Best Practices for Ecommerce A/B Tests
- •Run for at least 1-2 weeks - Monday shoppers behave differently than Saturday shoppers. Let the test run through a full week even if you hit your visitor count.
- •Don't stop early - Seeing "95% confidence" on day 2 doesn't mean anything. Wait for the full sample size AND minimum time period.
- •Start with 15% MDE - This is the sweet spot for most tests. Going lower means waiting months for results.
- •If your test will take 2+ months: Either test on your homepage/checkout (higher traffic), or make bigger changes that create larger effects.
